First Aid at Work Requalification

Is This Course Right for You?

The First Aid at Work Requalification course is designed for individuals who have previously completed the full First Aid at Work training and need to renew their certification. If your current certificate is due to expire — or has recently expired — and you want to continue acting as a qualified workplace first aider, this course is for you.

It’s ideal for:

  • Designated first aiders in medium to high-risk workplaces

  • Individuals whose FAW certificate is nearing its 3-year expiry

  • Those looking to refresh and update their first aid knowledge and skills in line with current guidelines

To be eligible, your original FAW certificate must still be valid or have expired by no more than 28 days.

What You'll Learn on this First Aid at Work Requalification Course

This 2-day requalification course refreshes and updates the essential first aid knowledge and practical skills needed to continue acting as a qualified workplace first aider. It ensures you remain confident and compliant with current Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards.

Refreshed Core Skills

  • Primary Survey & Casualty Assessment: Review how to assess incidents and prioritise care.

  • CPR and AED Use: Practise life-saving techniques for cardiac emergencies using the latest guidance.

  • Unresponsive Casualty Management: Revisit the recovery position and ongoing monitoring.

  • Choking Response: Reconfirm the steps for recognising and managing a choking casualty.

  • Control of Bleeding & Wound Care: Refresh your ability to treat minor and severe bleeding, including shock management.

  • Burns, Fractures & Injuries: Update your knowledge on managing musculoskeletal injuries and burns.

Medical Emergencies

  • Conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, strokes, and allergic reactions: Review the signs, symptoms, and appropriate responses.

Workplace-Specific Knowledge

  • First Aid Kits & Reporting: Reinforce best practices for using and maintaining kits and completing incident reports.

  • Scenario-Based Practice: Boost your confidence through hands-on training in realistic emergency situations.

This requalification course ensures you stay up to date with current first aid practices and maintain the confidence to respond effectively in real workplace emergencies. With a strong focus on practical skills and scenario-based learning, you'll leave prepared to continue your role as a competent and compliant first aider.

Location: Our Training Facility - The Royal George, 193 Manchester Rd, Greenfield, Oldham OL3 7HX

Alternatively we can come to you, ensuring your members receive hands-on training in a familiar environment. A qualified instructor will visit your location, providing practical, engaging and scenario-based training tailored to your workplace.

Time Duration: 2 Days (12 Hours)

Price: £160.00 pp (includes training materials, certification and refreshments)

What to Bring / What We'll Need

You are welcome to bring your own lunch or you can purchase it on the day from the pub or nearby shops. We also recommend bringing a notebook for any personal notes you may want to make during the course. Refreshments will be provided throughout the course to keep you comfortable and focused.

If we come to you, we'll need a power outlet for the slideshow and some space to do our hands-on activities during the course.

Assessment and Skill Development

Learners are continuously assessed throughout the course using various methods, such as practical demonstrations, Q&A sessions, quizzes and interactive activities like role play. These approaches are designed to provide reassurance and support as participants build and refine their skills.

These activities are designed to provide reassurance and assist learners in gaining the necessary skills, ensuring they can apply their knowledge safely.

How long is the First Aid at Work (Requalification) FAW (R) certificate valid for?

Upon successfully completing the course, learners will be awarded a First Aid at Work (Requalification) FAW(R) certificate approved by the FAIB. This qualification remains valid for three years.

How long is the First Aid at Work (Requalification) FAW (R) course?

Our courses usually run from 9.30 to 4.30 which includes a half-hour lunch and 2 short 15 min breaks.
