What You'll Learn on this First Aid at Work Course

The First Aid at Work (FAW) course provides comprehensive training to help you respond confidently to a wide range of workplace emergencies. By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to act quickly and effectively in both minor and major incidents.

Core First Aid Skills

  • Primary Survey and Casualty Assessment: Learn how to assess a situation quickly and safely, and provide appropriate care.

  • Unresponsive Casualties: Understand how to place someone in the recovery position and monitor their condition.

  • CPR and AED Use: Gain the confidence to perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in cardiac emergencies.

  • Choking and Airway Management: Learn how to respond swiftly and effectively to someone who is choking.

  • Bleeding and Wound Care: Manage cuts, grazes, severe bleeding, and embedded objects.

  • Shock and Circulatory Issues: Recognise signs of shock, including internal bleeding, and provide appropriate care.

  • Burns and Scalds: Learn how to treat burns, chemical injuries, and electrical injuries.

  • Fractures, Sprains and Strains: Understand how to manage musculoskeletal injuries and immobilise affected areas.

  • Medical Conditions: Respond to seizures, heart attacks, strokes, asthma, diabetes, allergic reactions, and more.

Workplace Focus

  • First Aid Kits: Know what your workplace kit should include and how to maintain it.

  • Incident Reporting: Learn how to document incidents in line with workplace and legal requirements.

Location: Our Training Facility - The Royal George, 193 Manchester Rd, Greenfield, Oldham OL3 7HX

Alternatively we can come to you, ensuring your members receive hands-on training in a familiar environment. A qualified instructor will visit your location, providing practical, engaging and scenario-based training tailored to your workplace.

Price: £240.00 pp (includes training materials, certification and refreshments)

What to Bring / What We'll Need

You are welcome to bring your own lunch or you can purchase it on the day from the pub or nearby shops. We also recommend bringing a notebook for any personal notes you may want to make during the course. Refreshments will be provided throughout the course to keep you comfortable and focused.

If we come to you, we'll need a power outlet for the slideshow and some space to do our hands-on activities during the course.

Assessment and Skill Development

Learners are continuously assessed throughout the course using various methods, such as practical demonstrations, Q&A sessions, quizzes and interactive activities like role play. These approaches are designed to provide reassurance and support as participants build and refine their skills.

How long is the First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate valid for?

Upon successfully completing the course, learners will be awarded a First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate approved by the FAIB. This qualification remains valid for three years.

How long is the First Aid at Work (FAW) course?

Our courses usually run from 9.30 to 4.30 which includes a half-hour lunch and 2 short 15 min breaks.
